PRINCE2 Agile is the most comprehensive guidance available in the area of Agile Project Management. According to Scrum there is no need project manager. However, Scrum guidance is for a single team delivery model. It talks about only 3 roles. However, it does not say that other roles are not needed.
In large projects where multiple teams are involved, there is need for Project Managers. It does not mean that Project Management means only Command and Control. It is about governance and as we see in the Gartner’s Pace Layered Architecture, the more the agility the more is the need for governance. PRINCE2 Agile is the only one acknowledging about it.
PRINCE2 Agile also is the only one stating that Agile is not for every project and we have to first decide on it. It has introduced to Agilometer and Cynefin framework to first decide whether to use Agile methodologies or Waterfall.
Only doing Scrum is not being Agile. PRINCE2 Agile considers Agile as a family of Behaviors, Concepts, Frameworks and Techniques. All these together we can be more agile. First of all even waterfall is agile but not to the extent we want to. So we do not do Agile but be Agile. Second, we need to look at the whole family and not independently any one of these to really be Agile.
PRINCE2 Agile has been able to seamlessly blend the governance of PRINCE2 and the 4 Agile methodologies – Scrum, Kanban, Lean Startup and Cynefin. It is much better and efficient to use not only the timeboxing but also improve the flow and helps in moving further into DevOps.
PRINCE2 Agile is the only one which talks about the need for special consideration and need a different Supplier Contract than the regular contracts that we use in project.
PRINCE2 Agile Practitioner Exam tests the candidate’s capability to be able to understand the scenario and apply the PRINCE2 Governance and the Agile Methodologies in the right place. This is much higher in the difficulty level with respect to Scrum, Safe, etc.
PRINCE2 Agile is gaining popularity exponentially across the world. This guidance will equip the practitioners to:
- Be on time and hit deadlines
