The MSP® certification scheme has been developed to offer three levels of certification: Foundation, Practitioner and Advanced Practitioner.
The purpose of the MSP Foundation certification is to confirm you understand the the MSP guidance thoroughly enough to work effectively with those involved in the management of a programme or to act as an informed member of a programme office, business change team or project delivery team working within an environment supporting MSP.
The Foundation certification is also a prerequisite for the MSP Practitioner and Advanced Practitioner certifications.

The purpose of the MSP Practitioner certification is to confirm whether you understand the MSP guidance well enough to apply it to your own work and are able act as an informed member of a programme management team. That is, someone responsible for managing, leading, supporting or advising on work within an MSP environment. You should also be capable of applying the MSP guidance in a relatively uncomplicated programme within an environment that uses MSP.
This level is also a prerequisite for programme management professionals progressing toward the MSP Advanced Practitioner certification.
Project managers, business change managers, experts and advisers working within a programme office as well as other specialist/governance roles involved in supporting programmes following the MSP guidance. This level is also suitable for SROs and those wishing to pursue higher level certifications (e.g. Programme Managers) and those aspiring to become programme management professionals in the future.
The purpose of the MSP Advanced Practitioner certification is to determine whether you are likely to be able to lead and manage a programme of transformational change. That is, whether you can apply the MSP guidance in a complex programme within an environment that uses MSP.
The MSP Advanced Practitioner certification is appropriate for a variety of roles, including (but not limited to), SROs, Programme Managers, those appointed to lead a portfolio or programme support function, BCMs and other programme support and management professionals.
